Driving Through the Fog from Morning to Night

The Yatsugatake area was wrapped in thick fog from early morning. Rain changed most of our plans, but between a dog-friendly aquarium, a roadside stop, and a hot spring, the day turned out to be enjoyable in its own way.

Today, the Yatsugatake area was covered in thick fog from early morning because of a weather front.

I woke up around six, as usual, and found only a light drizzle.

Taking advantage of it, I went for a walk through the deep green surroundings.

But within thirty minutes, the rain became much heavier.

After taking our time over breakfast with Anne beside us, we headed to an aquarium that allows dogs.

It turned out to be a much more substantial aquarium than I had expected.

It was not only enjoyable for children, but interesting enough for adults as well.

The weather made it seem unlikely that we would be able to take a proper walk anywhere, but we drove through the dense fog toward Kiyosato anyway.

By the time we arrived, the rain had eased a little.

We stopped for a break at a roadside station, but before long the rain started again, so we cut the visit short.

After that, we relaxed at a nearby hot spring and then returned to our cottage.

The rain had been forecast for several days, and yesterday we had at least managed to do something that felt a little more like sightseeing.

So I suppose this was fine.

And driving through fog this thick was, in its own way, rather interesting.

Not every travel day needs clear skies to become a good memory.
